三十九年前，中國入侵霸佔西藏，西藏人民為反抗中國入侵揭竿起義。值
此紀念西藏抗暴三十九週年的日子，我們共同簽署下列三點聯合宣言：

一、所有受迫害、極權統治及受其他國家所壓迫的人民，必須獨立自主，
    免於迫害。

二、在中國非法侵佔下的西藏、內蒙古、東土耳其斯坦人民及受中國經常
    性侵略威脅的台灣人民，其追求獨立自主的渴望，必須受國際社會所
    尊敬。

三、因此我們誓言合作完成西藏、內蒙古、東土耳其斯坦、台灣人民渴望
    追求獨立自主的目標。

Joint Press Statement

Taipei／March 7, 1998

On the occasion of the 39th commemoration of the Tibetan people's
Uprising against the People's Republic of China's invasion and
occupation of Tibet, we the following signatories categorically
state that:

  I. INDEPENDENCE from oppression, tyranny, and the imposition of
     the will of one nation on the people of another under any
     pretext is not an alternative but a necessity.

 II. The aspirations of the peoples of Tibet, Inner Mongolia, and
     East Turkistan who are under illegal occupation of the People's
     Republic of China, and the aspirations of the people of Taiwan
     who are under constant threat of invasion from across the Formosa
     Strait must be respected by the world community.

III. Therefore, we pledge ourselves to joining forces in our struggle
     to fulfill the aspirations of the peoples of Tibet, Inner Mongolia,
     East Turkistan and Taiwan for INDEPENDENCE.
