I am old enough to remember that Formosa was a separate place with a separate language and culture born of a separate history from that of the mainland.

I am dismayed by the turn of events that seem to salve the concience and dull the memories of the America people as to the fate of that island nation. I am no "red baiter" nor was Chaing Ki Chek any hero to me or to most Americans. Your page has enabled me to understand better the fate of your people.

It seems to me that when freedom human rights are concerned, the race or the origin of a people have little to do with justification of independence. It seems that Formosans have a god-given right to the same freedoms the American Declaration of Independence gives us, irrespective of ethnicity.

I wonder as to who are your friends in Congress, and why they are silent on this issue?
