Taiwan Passport
As you probably know, I've been exhaustively researching the legal status of
Taiwan under SFPT, and the role of the Allied military occupational
regulations (civil affairs) plays a silent but prominent role for many
reasons.
Unknown to most folks, author George Kerr was a US Navy Civil Affairs
officer prior to WWII. He even edited the volumes of Civil Affairs
regulations used by SCAP's occupation of Japan especially during his time
with SCAP and the US State Dept. Thus I am trying to assess the historical
role of Kerr and for purposes of more openly clarifying the lurking "legal
ambiguities" of the constitutional formulations of the Taiwan Relations Act.
I was part of a US Army Civil Affairs unit in the Gulf War, and the status
of Taiwan under SFPT is quite seriously effected by the Taiwan Relations
Act. It created an "escrow agency" function of the USA, and there are legal
civil rights with the "undetermined" treaty status of Taiwan.

Quote:
Anthony Eden wrote that "The Allies approved Chiang's occupation, but this
did not constitute legal transfer." The London Times published a series on
the legal status of Formosa, and Canada's Foreign Secretary (Lester Pearson)
proposed an international conference to treat the problem.
Do you know of any online archives for this series by the London Times?
If so, please forward a link or article copy to the helpful folks at
http://www.taiwandocuments.org site, and if possible to me, too.
This is of great historical significance to Formosans.
