Re: Taiwanese should keep their language

Dear Claire,

Warm greetings from the Ministry of Education.

Your e-mail to the Prime Minister has been forwarded to
this office for responses.

In order to conserve our national heritage, we are
currently engaged in the teaching of Hokkien,Hakka as well
as Aboriginese languages in Taiwan. However, as a result
of globalization, we are also fully aware of the importance
of English which is widely used around the world.

As you may know, National language(s) is a complex issue
both emotionally and politically. The people(s) living in
this land will certainly learn how to handle it with tact
and wisdom.

Thanks for your comments sent from Japan.

Best regards,

Jing-shing Huang
