Re: "Who Is Taiwanese "Mitochondria Eve(s)"?"

Dear Dr. Cheng:

Thank you  very much for your comment. I am happy that we 
share the same concern and have a commom goal for our 
homeland.

In my last article ( Can mitochondria DNA save Taiwan ?), 
it might sound like that  I intended to deny the importance 
to clarify the sanguinous differences between the Taiwanese 
people and the so-called Chinese Han- people. Well, actually 
NO. I am fully aware of the importance to make people to 
acknowledge and accept the fact. To me, it is very natural to 
believe a scientific result and happy to know the fact. But 
it is a distress to  find  out that the scientific results do 
not convience most  of the  Taiwanese people around me. Most 
of them will say "yes, it maybe a fact, but not including me, 
because I have a Chinese name, and I speak Taiwanese that is 
orginated from Hokken". So the  discussion had to be stopped 
there, or I was going to lose a friend again. 

Or, maybe we have  to think why Taiwanese peolple can`t  win 
their own country after 50 years of independance movement, if 
we count from Feb.28, 1947. After 50 years of struggling, 
there are only 39% of Taiwanese vote for independance, if we 
consider Mr. Chen as a symbol of independance. That means more 
than 50% of Taiwanese are not prepared to be people of a 
nation called Taiwan, but rather to be a Chinese. It is a very 
very sad fact we have to accept.

Now we have think why  most Taiwanese still consider 
themselves as Han-people descendant and keep a deep 
affectionation to Chinsese culture after so many years of 
political oppression, so-called white terror. I believe that 
there must be something so strong , something that has a magic 
power, something like a opium , or something like a cancer to 
make Taiwanese to believe they are Han-people descendant.

It is not  funny to know that the native high-land people 
(takasago zoku) also say that they are lost children of the 
ancient Han-people after so many years of Chinese education. 
It is absolutely unfair to blame them . Maybe we should think 
why Han-people has such a big population. Han-people is not a 
sanguinous family, but a  group composed of　lots of minority 
peoples  who gave up their own cultures, their own languages 
then surrendered and naturalized to Han-people`s culture and 
language. So, obviously, Taiwanese both low-land  and high-
land people are on the way to complete sinanization. 

So what is Chinese education, what is the core of Chinese 
culture ? To me, the answer is clear and simple, Chinese 
words. No Chinese words , no Chinese culture. No Chinese 
culture , no Chinese. Just that simple.  

The only way to stop the sinanizaltion ,that means to save 
Taiwanese from self destrution, is to have their own language, 
or more precisely to have their own words instead of using 
Chinese words, not through clarification of sanguinous 
difference  between Taiwanese and Chinese, It  would cost a 
lot of space  to say why I reach to this kind of seemly- 
radical conclusion, or is it possible to achieve.

I believe a new word system would lead to a new language 
that would lead Taiwanese people to have a real strong 
identity, that is exactly  what Taiwanese peolpe need before 
they are going to win their own country.

It`s a shame but I have to admit that I am not used to write 
in Engilsh, hope you understand what I trying to say.
